Specialists in Environmental Remediation and Water Resource Management
Over the past ten (10) years, AGES staff have completed nearly 100 projects involving the assessment and clean-up of PCB-affected soil, concrete, paint, sediment, groundwater and non-porous surfaces. Our staff are familiar with the unique sampling requirements of the PCB Mega-Rule and are experienced in the collection of concrete and paint chip and completion of template-based wipe sampling. AGES experience ranges from small projects to those including thousands of square feet of affected concrete and hundreds of cubic yards of affected soil. AGES has performed PCB projects in the states of Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

AGES staff have pioneered the use of immunoassay kits to screen soil and concrete samples in the field. The kits employ a two (2) step sample analysis system that can be used in the field to provide real-time field analytical results that correlate with lab results. AGES is able to identify samples that contain PCBs greater than a pre-determined limit (e.g. 1 ppm, 25 ppm or 50 ppm). The field testing results provide a quick means to determine whether additional removal of affected media is required prior to confirmatory sampling for standard laboratory analysis.
With our experience with these kits, we are able to generate real-time PCB results in the field that accurately correlate with laboratory results. We have successfully applied this technology at over 100 sites to eliminate costly re-digs and remobilizations; to reduce the volume of soil excavated and associated disposal costs; and to cut the timeframes for remedial projects by 50% or more. Overall, AGES has a track record for success on PCB remedial projects that is unmatched in the field.
