Former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) Sampling Project

AGES has been contracted to conduct quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling at four (4) former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) sites in Indiana. All four sites are part of Indiana Department of Environmental Management’s (IDEM) Voluntary Remedial Program (VRP). Each MGP site has a network of up to 35 monitoring wells located throughout each site and the properties surrounding each site. Once each quarter, AGES personnel collect groundwater measurements from each well and monitor each well for the presence of Dense Non-aqueous Phase Liquid (DNAPL) and Light Non-aqueous Phase Liquid (LNAPL). Groundwater samples are collected from each well and shipped to an approved analytical laboratory for analysis of required constituents including volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds and dissolved metals. Following receipt of the laboratory data, AGES compiles the monitoring and analytical data into quarterly groundwater monitoring reports for each site which are submitted to IDEM for review.
