Project Background
In 2012, AGES was contracted to perform remediation design and construction oversight of a PCB-impacted building demolition project at an industrial facility in Richland County, Ohio. Elevated concentrations of PCBs were discovered in paint and concrete throughout the building. As a result, the client elected to demolish this former electrical building rather than remediate.
Demolition Project Work
Prior to demolition, AGES conducted a safety review to ensure that all asbestos containing materials were removed, all overhead and underground hazards were identified and the entire structure was de-energized. Additionally, AGES sampled the painted superstructure, equipment and concrete floors to determine the extent and concentration of PCBs and other hazardous wastes. This allowed for a stream-lined segregation of different waste streams, facilitated an expedited demolition timetable, and reduced waste disposal costs.
The building was safely demolished on schedule, within budget and to the client’s satisfaction.
